Excerpt from D- Side Magazine interview - Have you recorded the covers that will be featured on the EP (it will be an EP right? If yes, when will it be released?) at the same period as the album sessions, and with the same people? I have recorded two .... and plan to record the rest as I go along .... whilst releasing them at least one per month. The ultimate collection will be packaged at a later point and they lead into the notions contained on the new work, original work to come. - To cover other artists and release this EP will give a strange object in your discography, I suppose. Have you imagined at a moment that this attempt could constitue an entire covers album, and is this covers EP an introduction to something bigger, in the same style, that could come later? The covers will direct themselves as to their emergence. At this stage it will be more like a full LP length .... We'll see/ They are now to be available in my new label Huvolla Music and exclusively available on Itunes only until the collection is complete, when I will figure out the best way to make that available. - Why have you chosen to give a priority to the release of the covers on the web, prior to the physical release itself? The almost live as it happens. Nature of the releases and my own personal arrangement with Itunes as a label (Huvolla Musuc) allows me to release in real time. No need to wait around for a more complex release model just yet. More importantly the audience love to have this vitality in play. The imminent album work will also find its own appropriate release time I personally am looking for an Autumn release latest for that. - How do you personally understand Lennon's "Instant Karma"? What does it represent for / evoke to you? It is a perennial message of personal responsibility and hearkens to the divine simultaneously. Karma has no meaning for me personally, it I feel is a grossly misconceived tenet. And is rather like an old program which was expounded by the Buddha but has now taken on a more lazy usage. What's more there is a final programme that is all inclusive that I have a soft spot for. However that aside; In the end it is a positively sublime message despite the Karmic inference. And whatever it takes to say it, I'll use it. - How do you approach the covers on stage? Do you try to create a universe around them or do you wanna simply restitute your personal vision of the songs in a "nude" context (I mean from a visual point of view, for example) ....
Depends entirely on the night in question.... - How have you conceived the Secret Cover Tour? How have you built the setlist? What did you wanna embrace / present of yourself through this experience ? Intuitively.... - I'm sure that fans would appreciate listening to all these covers later. Do you think you will record some of the Secret Cover Tour live dates for a further live recording along the lines of "alive justforlove"?
.. ..I have recorded both the New York City Highline shows (09) with my full line up, who are, Jeff Shartoff (Bass) Mark
Gemini Thwaite (Guitar) Nick Lucero (Drums) and my new addition, John Andrews (Guitar/Vocals). One of the live songs will
be relased soon as part of the Secret Covers set, and a full length in the future.....
Thank you again Peter |
