TROCADERO
JUNE 29, 2008
Had the extreme pleasure of getting to see you last night at The Trocadero in Phila.
Never got to see you in person before. A dream come true for me as I've spent so
many mornings and evenings and afternoons too...listening, listening. It's been the
soundtrack to this life of mine. So you can imagine what a very big deal it was to
me getting to hear and see you! I forgot what it's like to be a fan and you reminded
me what a beautiful thing it is. And the communal experience of sharing it with the
other people in the audience, we all have a beautiful thread tying us together
making us all feel oneness, wholeness. I can imagine we've all lived our lives to
this soundtrack. The person I loved most in the world died some years ago now...and
we used to listen to your music together: blast it in the mornings, through country
drives in summers, cemetary afternoons in autumns. We had many conversations bourne
from your lyrics...it was a special part of our connection to eachother. So standing
there in your audience it was so painful for me in some ways. Thinking back on my
life and the love I had, wishing he were there with me, wishing he could see you...
but you were there, and the audience was there, so I couldn't feel too alone or too
sad. I just allowed myself to become swept away by you, your band, the audience, the
energy, and the whole experience. It was magic. You were so open to the people,
caring to your audience, you seemed to enjoy us as we enjoyed you! Your sense of
humor came through so clear and bright and your wisdom too of course. A beautiful
experience. Truly Beautiful. ThankYou.

BLENDER THEATER
JUNE 26 & 27, 2008
I attended the show at the Blender Theater on June 27th, and I have to say it was
the best live show I've ever seen. I also saw Peter in Seattle on the opening night
of this tour, and also in LA at the House of Blues, and I can honestly say that the
show has only gotten better each time.
I was lucky enough to get VIP tickets for the Blender theater, so my friend Susie
and I got to watch the sound check and meet Peter before the show. He was even more
gracious than I expected and made an effort to be perfectly charming to each of us
lucky enough to be there.
Charm aside, the show was amazing! Peter was definitely in great voice and seemed
to be having a fabulous time. The umbrella was a great prop and I was thrilled we
got to see the famous spin in action. I loved catching the Bela tribute within
"Strange Kind of Love" - the show had lots of humorous extras thrown in if you were
quick enough to catch them. In very short order he had the crowd in the palm of his
ever gesturing hand.
The new Bauhaus songs were terrific - I love the energy and the addition of
"Adrenalin". His duet with Sara was lovely. And of the course the solo material was
sublime - "Fall With Your Knife" was especially amazing, but then that's my
favorite. "Transmission" was simply unbelievable.
This should make for a fabulous DVD. And if you are considering seeing a show on
this tour, DO IT! Peter in his glory is not to be missed, especially with such a
great band backing him up.

I attended both performances at the Blender Theater, and each one was spectacular.
It had been 3 long years since Peter last played New York, and his return was
triumphant. I was up front both nights, so I had a perfect view of the action on
stage.
During his performance of "Disappearing" on the first night, he came over to where I
was standing and motioned to me to follow him. We then looked each other right in
the eye as he held my hand and we sang to one another. It was quite remarkable and I
felt very connected to him in that brief moment. He was all over the place, flailing
around as though he had all the energy in the world and the crowd loved every second
of it. He held a brief Q&A session both nights where fans bombarded him with
questions and requests. Peter's sense of humor, like his voice, was certainly still
in tact. In addition, he brought out the lovely Sarah Fimm both nights to duet with
him on "Huuvola." It was so moving, it brought tears to my eyes. Along with the
established set list, he stuck in snippets of other songs including "Riders On The
Storm" during the first night's rendition of "She's In Parties." On the second
night, he interjected David Bowie's "Be My Wife" into the melody.
On the second night, Peter delivered some songs that did not make the cut Thursday
night. The most surprising was a cover of Joy Division's "Transmission", and it was
so raw and aggressive it could have woken up Ian Curtis from the dead. This was
followed by the classic "All Night Long" and the incomparable "Cuts You Up." The
crowd went wild, and didn't stop until the end. Even "Bela Lugosi's Dead" made an
appearance disguised in the lushness of "Strange Kind Of Love."
It was truly an honor to be in the presence of such an icon two days in a row. My
only regret is that the venue did not permit photography, but on the upside Friday
night's performance was recorded. So if it ever airs on television, I will be able
to see the smile on my face and look back fondly on what may very well be the
greatest shows I've ever witnessed. Peter, I do hope you will come back to New York
again soon. Last but not least, I simply want to say thank you...for everything.

NEW HAZLETT THEATER
JUNE 23, 2008
Peter and band members. Greetings! Enjoyed the Pittsburgh show last
evening at the Hazlet Theater.
You sounded really good despite having to mix from behind the stage, or
was that just the monitor mix?
I didn't see a soundboard anywhere out in front. I was surprised that
someone hollered out that you and Reznor
should collaborate. After thinking about it though, I think it could be
promising. The only problem I see is
the party who is not Peter Murphy would really have to let you take the
lead in writing since in my mind, you're the better
writer.
I hope you're feeling ok..was concerned that you were getting winded
there at points. If you need any health advice let
me know. I dug the twirling..that's one of the Lamesery exercises isn't
it? I do them regularly.
Being a musician who writes his own songs I really appreciate your
compositions. I was totally blown away by
the album Dust. Wish you would have performed Cuts You Up last evening.
The last encore: "Your Face" was
transcendent. Also, liked the Moon River reference against the minor
backdrop.
As far as the Goth thing goes... there's the corporate controlled media
version and then there's the real thing, that started
out on the journey and has moved on into the somber purity of the
millennial morning, heading toward the overcast
of sun shadows stretching over a surreal dreamscape. As they say: the
fool that persists in his folly will become wise.
Hope your health improves. I recommend all organic, no fluoride coupled
with internal cleansing.
I'd mention meditation but I believe you have that covered?
Best wishes for peace, great ideas, a nice blending of chest voice and
falsetto and above all else, a great mix!

What a great show! Murph was very energetic; he was all over the place. He looked
great and was very friendly to the crowd; chatting and laughing. He was in such a
good mood obviously! Before Marlene he picked up the acoustic guitar and some one
in the audience yelled Socrates the Python. He said we haven't rehearsed it why
don't you sing it and basically gave her the microphone. He then said Bennett, G,
Jesus a couple times and added Mohammad to the last one! Very cool. Before Strange
Kind of Love he played a bit of the 3 Shadwos on guitar. Excelllent moment!. Its
hard to pick a hilighet but the show picked up energy about 1/2 wy through. The
band sounded excellent even on the Bauhaus songs. They were loud and heavy
especially if you were too close. Black Stone was awesome! All the encores were
excellent. A great version of Strange Kind of Love (after all these years still
fresh) and She's in Parties rocked! Very nice to hear Your Face at the end it was a
nice way to close the show.
Also the t-shirt has San Antonio but no no has been posted anywhere on the show yet?
It also has Lima (Peru?) on it. That would be his first South American show ever!

A magnificent show from Peter Murphy and his band! Definitely worth braving
the tornado advisory that was in effect at the time most concertgoers were
probably making their way to downtown Cleveland! Peter looked stunning,
sounded strong, and seemed to be in a particularly spirited mood. He
frequently engaged the audience between songs (What was that about nearly
moving here as a boy?), invited questions from the floor, and grasped the
hands of audience members in the first few rows while performing. It is so
rare to find an artist of Peter's stature who remains so accessible to his
fans.
Just as impressive was the dexterity with which his band members switched
back and forth between Peter's solo material and both old and new Bauhaus
songs as if they had been playing together far longer than they actually
have been. Another pleasant surprise was Peter's vibrant performance of
selected songs from Bauhaus' "Go Away White" album. On the recording, I
found many of these songs a bit repetitive for my tastes, even by Bauhaus
standards, but Peter's live performance of them managed to change my mind.
I enjoyed the Cleveland show so much that I did something I've never done
before, and decided at the last minute to head out to Pittsburgh on Monday
to see a second show in the tour!

Awesome show at the Newport last Friday. Your vocals were as incredible, clear and
powerful as ever. I remember like it was yesterday seeing you at the Newport on
your Deep tour, as moving then as it was now. Love the lyrics, the music and the
vocals, there is no combination of your qualities of these in any other artist. One
comment though on the show's attendance. Newport is on The Ohio State University
campus and student population there dwindles from 50,000 to only a few thousand
during the summer, so low attendance should be expected, it certainly should not be
taken as a reflection on the artist Peter Murphy. Please come back and see us
again, but come during the school year so that your young fans as well as old fans
like me can enjoy the show and you will have a packed house. Thank you, Cheers!

Such an amazing feeling when I see Peter live! Once again last
night he managed to bring me home, to bring me to this place of knowing
I am understood and am not alone. Kinda like feeling the earth
beneath me in yoga class...grounded. His presence, hearing his
voice, seeing his beautiful eyes..does this for me.
Thank you Peter,
for accepting my poem..I apologize for having to throw it at your feet.
Strange Kind of Love has been my favorite song for a good 15 years
so to have the words on a t-shirt is very cool. I am going to hang
it on my wall. :) As a parent, Huuvola also holds very special
meaning for me and I adore Peter for writing that for his children
and was so happy he played it last night!
With gratitude and love,

FINE LINE MUSIC CAFE
JUNE 16, 2008
I had the pleasure of being in the audience for Peter's show in the Fine Line in
Minneapolis. I'm recovering from the after effects of surgery for cancer, and I
just wanted to mention that, with all I've been dealing with lately, the concert was
a welcome bright spot in an otherwise stressful year. Peter Murphy has been my
favorite musical artist since the early 1990's and the Mpls. show was wonderfully
conducive to being in the moment with the music and Peter's performance. I was
especially thrilled to get to hear "Huuvola" live and in person.
Thank you, and best regards,
Jennifer

After waiting for so many years, finally I was to see Peter Murphy!!!
Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed! (Well, except for the fact that
they didn't play Marlene Dietrich.) The venue was perfect, very
intimate, and much to my surprise, not sold out. It would have been nice
for the show to have been longer, as it lasted only an hour and fifteen
minutes. "She's in Parties", sounded great, as did "Cuts You Up".
(During which the guy sitting next to me jumped onstage.)
I'm hoping that this won't be the last time we see Peter Murphy in
Kansas City.
Does anyone know if there is to be new Peter music forthcoming? I have
read that there is, but.........

VENTURA, CA
VENTURA THEATRE
JUNE 6, 2008
This makes the 2nd Peter Murphy concert in a row for me this tour...a personal
record breaker.
This time there were three opening acts for friday's show: The line up started
with a band called Strange Rebel Frequency. Musically, their hardcore grunge
sound was very good, but I kept wanting the lead singer to go all Courtney Love on
us. The music needed some raw, real emotion behind the lyrics, some singing like
you mean it. I needed the kind of passion that truly wakes people up, that not
only eats a burger, but eats the hell out of it.
Ghosts on The Radio came closer to that, especially the drummer. If you could put
the drummer for this band in the same room with Kevin Haskins, there'd be some
real rivalry, believe you me. Musically, this was not too much different than
what's been played on MTV 2's video shows, but at least there's an effort to put
meat on the bones with this band.
And then there was Ali Eskandrian. While he played basically the same set at what
he had done at HOB in Hollywood, he was even more mesmerizing than the previous
night...which was going quite a stretch. You just can't watch this guy and not be
blown away.
Finally, Peter came on and this time I was right up against the barricade towards
the center. I'd left my red feathered friend at home this time (she was molting,
poor thing!), but he clearly recognized me and smiled at me...no doubt looking
back on last night's lunacy. It touched my heart, and the thought that I'd made
him smile and laugh for one moment moves me very, very deeply. The thought brings
tears of joy to my eyes as I type this.
His set was basically the same minus a couple of songs -- I cannot recalll which
songs were omitted for the Ventura set -- but for his final encore he did play
Final Solution. Throughout his set he performed just as he did the previous
night, interacting with audience members and band members alike. My neck was sore
by the time the concert was over, from moving to the rhythm of his music, but I
was ecstatic. Such wonderful memories will stay with me for a lifetime.

HOUSE OF BLUES
JUNE 5, 2008
I have to say that despite Peter's concerns that he was in bad voice at The House of
Blues in Hollywood, I have to say that not only did he sound great, but the overall
vibe of last night's concert was joyous and jovial, the high point for me being the
moment when he cracked up towards the end of I'll Fall With Your Knife. What was
that about, you may ask all puzzled? Well, put it this way he's quite ticklish when
it comes to red feather boas...especially when worn by crazy ladies such as myself.
But I'm sure that added to the fun that was had by all including Peter himself. In
fact, in a very roundabout way he practically almost dedicated Strange Kind of Love
to that small circle of "murphettes" -- as Amy put it; the way he put it was, "This
is a Strange Kind of Love...especially over here!" as he gestured in our direction.
I love moments like that, and I came out of last night's concert feeling that he's
like a very dear brother to me.
Looking forward to the Ventura Theater performance. ;-)

What a show! Just got home from the long drive which was worth 200 miles to
see you you were fantastic wish I could see the other So Cal shows. Was so
nice to be upfront. Was a perfect crowd not to many just right. I only can
compare it to the "If The World Should Fail To Fall Apart" since I was
second seat at the Coach House in San Clemente this was nice to be that
close again and not in pain.
"Black Stone Heart"
Oh was so awesome to hear.
So perfectly performed.
Complete shear bliss.
Oh how I wish it could have lasted "All Night Long"

EL CORAZAN
MAY 30, 2008
Good evening. I was fortunate enough to have the privilege of seeing the show at El Corazon, and have to say I was blown away once again by seeing you live. The gig at the Paramount a few seasons back (you and the mates reunited) was positively supernatural (and I am proud to say that it was specifically picked to be my oldest son's first concert experience), but there is something utterly magical about a smaller venue...just the sheer intimacy of being a mere twenty feet away from and having the ability to make eye contact with an artist of your caliber is a rare gift indeed, regardless what others may think of the sound system in the house. (No disparagement of others' opinions intended, just my personal view. And yes, I do love parentheses.)
But fanmail ravings aside: I just returned home from work to hear that the Portland show had been canceled, with apparently illness as the cause. I hope it's nothing too serious? Please keep us posted...we will all worry otherwise!
Again, thank you for a wonderful show, and be well.
Daniel G.
I've been a fan since the early 80's and I just caught your Seattle show at El Corozon. It was incredibly moving as always. That said, please never play at El Corozon again. It's known in Seattle for it's poor sound and asshole bouncers. I'll still come to see your shows no matter where you play.
Sincerely,
Corey K
Incredible show last night. It was really special for me because I'm only 15, and I fell in love with Bauhaus literally the week after you played at Sasquatch in 2006. I was almost positive that I would never get to see you live. When I heard about Go Away White, I thought you were going to tour but when I heard you weren't, I was fairly devastated. Then two days before you played El Corazon my friend, who doesn't even like your music, told me you were playing there. So I was really lucky to be able to go. Thanks for an incredible night!
